The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) proposes lane changes along portions of US 178, SC 183/ E Main Street, E Cedar Rock Street and Johnson Street in Pickens County, SC.

The proposed project will modify (Road Diet) the existing lanes along portions of the roadway. Traffic lane modification on the identified roads will take place in coordination with scheduled resurfacing work where possible.

These changes are proposed at the request of the City of Pickens to help with roadway efficiency and safety. Some roads will be proposed with additional on-street parking to help with accessibility.

The project will not be widening the road, only utilizing the existing (wide) pavement structure.
