Project Information
Project Description:
The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) proposes an expedited bridge replacement of the S-393 (Round Tree Road) bridge over Jones Creek in Cherokee County, SC.
Proposed Improvements:
The proposed project will replace the currently closed bridge with a single span bridge on existing alignment. The proposed bridge will accommodate two 12-foot travel lanes with 1.5-foot shoulders. The bridge is currently closed with a 4.5 mile detour along Burnt Gin Road (S-11-72) and Union Highway (SC18) and will continue to be in place until construction is complete.
Purpose and Need:
The purpose of the proposed project is to replace the existing S-393 bridge over Jones Creek to eliminate structural deficiencies and to provide a new bridge and roadway approaches that meet current design standards. The bridge, which was built in 1979, was determined to no longer meet SCDOT's safety and design requirements for its transportation system.
