Project Description:

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) proposes bridge repair, rehabilitation, and preservation services for the SC-395 (Kempson Bridge Road) bridge over Saluda River in Saluda County, SC.

Proposed Improvements:

The proposed project will include repairs that will improve mobility in the region and extend the service life of the bridge.

The bridge will be close and detoured during specific repair activities.

Detour Duration: approximately 3 months.

Net Detour Length: approximately 21.0 miles

The rest of the repair work will be completed via lane closure.

Purpose and Need:

The purpose of this project is to reduce the number of load restricted bridges by performing comprehensive and cost effective SC-395 (Kempson Bridge Road) bridge over Saluda River in Saluda County. These repairs are part of SCDOT's Statewide Closed and Load Restricted Bridge Repair Program.
