The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) proposes to improve the intersection of S-29 (N Cashua Drive) and S-167 (W. Darlington Street).

The interseciton improvements will include the following:

• High Friction Surfacing will be applied to all 4 approaches.
• Pavement Markings (including crosswalks, stop bars, and lane assignment arrows) will be upgraded and the signal will be improved.
• More signing will be added and the existing signing will be improved. This will include overhead lane assignment signs for those traveling westbound on W. Darlington St.
• Excess vegetation that cause sight distance issues will be cut back.
• Raised concrete medians will be added in select locations for access management and to improve traffic flow.
• Left-turn storage bays will be lengthened. Offset left-turn lanes will be created to improve sight distance.

The purpose of the project is to increase operational efficiency while reducing the frequency and severity of crashes occurring at the intersection.
